Our Story

Built by an operator,
for operators.

SOPdoc exists because running a real business taught us that clarity isn't a nice-to-have — it's the foundation everything else is built on.

The Problem

I run a property management business in Bali, Indonesia. Coordinating housekeeping teams, guest communications, maintenance, marketing, and standards across multiple properties — the operations never stop.

And when something goes wrong — a room not prepared correctly, a guest complaint, a process skipped — it almost always comes back to the same root cause. The instructions weren't clear enough.

I used to write SOPs in Word documents. Some were emailed around. Some were printed and taped to walls. Some existed only in my head. Staff would do things their own way — not out of carelessness, but because nobody had told them precisely what the right way looked like.

When mistakes happened, I'd get frustrated. But I kept coming back to something my father, Rene Kolkman — a civil engineer — used to say to me.

“”

If you're not explicitly clear about what you ask for, you deserve what you get.

Rene Kolkman, Civil Engineer

He was right. Precision of instruction determines quality of output — whether you're building a bridge or preparing a villa for a guest. The standard you walk past is the standard you accept.

I needed a better way to document how things should be done. Professional enough to hand to a new team member on day one. Clear enough that there was no room for interpretation. Structured enough to be consistent across every property, every team, every season.

Every tool I tried was too complex, too generic, or built for companies ten times my size. So I built SOPdoc.

The AI handles the first draft — you describe the process in plain English and it generates a complete, structured document in seconds. You refine it, your team follows it, and your standards stay consistent whether you're there or not.

Because when your team has clear instructions, the work gets done right. And when the work gets done right, you can focus on growing — not putting out fires.

What We Believe

01

Clarity is the job

Vague instructions produce vague results. The most important thing a manager can do is communicate exactly what good looks like.

02

Systems enable freedom

A well-documented operation runs without you. The goal of good SOPs isn't control — it's creating the space to grow.

03

Simple beats perfect

A good SOP that gets used beats a perfect one that sits in a folder. We build for the real world, not the ideal one.

Built for every operation

SOPdoc started in hospitality but the need for clear, consistent documentation is universal. If you have a team and a standard, SOPdoc is for you.
